Great stock images often come with a hefty price tag – but not any more!
We’ve done the yards and put together a list of our favourite free and low cost stock photo websites. These image libraries are great for all your website, social marketing and content marketing needs – even for your printed materials like brochures, flyers, catalogues and more.
The most important thing is that, whichever image library you use, that you are able to find images that suit your needs. Take a browse, leverage the trial (where available) and consider what’s going to suit your marketing efforts.
Having said that – happy image hunting!
Fully searchable image gallery, and browse by category for great high quality images with no attribution required. Be aware that there are advertising banners in place for deposit photos which offers a wider library of images for purchase.
Over 600,000 photos, vectors, art illustrations and videos all for free, again with no attribution required. From cars to frogs, stones to cookies, you are sure to find an image to suit your needs.
With new photos every week, all photos have been taken by Ryan McGuire and are free of copyright restrictions. There are some truly quirky photos (pigs with party hats, armless hands, etc) but also some stunning and vibrant lifestyle and architecture images.
Almost 400,000 photos and illustrations – fully searchable or browse by categories including outdoor activities, transportation, textures and patterns and more…. Premium photos are also available on the site (over 2.4 million of them) which links you through to istockphoto by Getty (expect to pay around $10-$20 per image).
This site was created by a young man named Nic, and unfortunately he died very suddenly in November 2013 from S.A.D.S (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome). I only recently became aware of S.A.D.S through a friend of mine, and I am humbled by Nic’s family continued operation of the website with the simple request that people who download images consider a donation to the “Hand on Heart Charity”.
For $49 per month you have access to unlimited downloads from over 300,000 vectors, illustrations and photos to keep and use forever. Whilst $49 seems like a lot after the list above of free libraries, the nature and extent of images available from this library is quite different to those above. The library also features design templates for marketing materials including flyers, tri fold brochures, websites and more.
